United in Christ Church

United in Christ is the prayerful result of a marriage between two amazing churches.

In 1979, First Maranatha was born. In the infant stages, many elders worked under various pastors until a pastor was permanently assigned. The pastors who served faithfully were Pastor Reeves, Dr. Errol T. Stoddart (1988), Pastor Jimmy L. H. Ferguson (1993-1997), and Pastor George Williams (1997 to 2003).

New Macedonia was born in the summer of 1999, under the leadership of Pastor C D Jenkins. As a result of a successful evangelistic crusade, the church decided to establish this new community of believers.

In 2003, after some deliberation during the building search of New Macedonia Church and an assessment of churches in the area, Allegheny East Conference leaders were blessed with the idea to merge these two churches together on the east-side of Baltimore to worship and witness at 3401 Old York Rd.

After prayerful consideration and thoughtful deliberation, the churches agreed to be named United in Christ.

Pastor Jenkins served as the interim pastor of this new faith community. After a short period, Pastor Conklin Gentry was voted to be the first Pastor of United In Christ and officially started his ministry in January 2004. Pastor Michael Edwards (2007-2009) joined United in Christ, first as Assistant Pastor and then assumed the role of Pastor. Thereafter, Pastor Gary Adams (2009-2018) left an indelible mark on this faith community. As a result of his leadership and God’s faithfulness, the building mortgage was retired.

In November 2018, God sent Dr. Ramone Griffith (2018-2023) as the fourth pastor. As the Spirit guided, the core values of Evangelism, Discipleship, Family, Worship, and Community, were concretized with a new mission statement:

“To lead all people to a life changing, ever growing, relationship with Christ.”

Under this mandate, and with the push of a global pandemic, United in Christ completely overhauled the church’s technology, upgrading the wireless capacity, and adding a state of the art digital sound board, camera, and PA system. In addition, UIC widened its impact through meaningful partnerships to serve the community.

Being grateful for all that God has done, we remain steadfast in the hope of the day when our faith shall be made sight. Until then, by faith, we will boldly go on.
